If I had to name the most common question I get from entrepreneurs in the early or even middle stages of growth, it would be this:

“Should I focus on money mindset first, or do I need a financial strategy before anything else?”

And the truth is… it’s not either/or. It’s both. Always both.

When I started Focus & Conquer, I leaned heavily on strategy. I built trackers, made forecasts, designed offers. I wanted numbers and plans and step-by-step systems. But even with all of that in place, I still hesitated to raise my prices. I felt weird promoting my work. I undercharged, overdelivered, and questioned every financial move.

Because I had the strategy—but not the mindset to support it.

On the flip side, I’ve also worked with brilliant women who’ve done deep mindset work. They journal. They manifest. They know their worth. But they don’t have the systems to hold their success. They leak money, miss patterns, and get stuck in feast-or-famine cycles.

So today, I want to break down what money mindset and money strategy really are, how they work together, and how to strengthen both so your business can grow with power and peace.

What Is Money Mindset?

Money mindset is the collection of beliefs, emotions, and narratives you hold around money. It’s:

  • What you believe you’re allowed to earn

  • How safe you feel looking at your numbers

  • What you associate with wealth or debt

  • How confident you feel charging, saving, investing

Mindset is the emotional lens through which you see every financial choice.

Without a strong money mindset, you might:

  • Underprice out of fear or guilt

  • Avoid financial conversations

  • Self-sabotage income goals

  • Let emotion override logic in business decisions

A healthy mindset gives you the emotional safety to grow.

What Is Money Strategy?

Money strategy is the structure you use to plan, organize, and manage your finances. It’s:

  • Your budget and cashflow system

  • Your revenue planning and income goals

  • Your expense tracking and forecasting

  • Your pricing structure and profit margins

Strategy is the container that supports your vision.

Without strategy, you might:

  • Feel lost about what’s working and what’s not

  • Miss deadlines, forget invoices, or overspend

  • Get overwhelmed and reactive around money

  • Struggle to scale sustainably

A good strategy gives you clarity and control.

The Truth: They Work Best Together

Here’s what happens when you strengthen both:

  • You set bold goals and believe you can hit them

  • You charge your worth and manage the income wisely

  • You create systems and trust yourself to follow them

That’s the sweet spot. That’s where sustainable, empowered growth lives.

How to Strengthen Your Money Mindset

These are habits that changed everything for me:

  • Weekly money journaling (“What did I learn about money this week?”)

  • Practicing financial affirmations daily

  • Celebrating every win (even $10 sales)

  • Surrounding myself with financial expanders (people who normalize wealth)

  • Naming and rewriting old money stories

Money mindset work is deep, tender, and ongoing. Be gentle with yourself.

How to Build Your Money Strategy (Without Burnout)

Start simple:

  1. Track your income + expenses (weekly)

  2. Set monthly revenue goals (realistic + stretch)

  3. Use the 70/20/10 method to organize your earnings

  4. Run a monthly financial ritual

  5. Know your most profitable offers—and focus there

You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to start.

What Happened When I Aligned Both

I used to feel like money was a game I couldn’t win. Either I had the structure and felt scared, or I had confidence and no clarity.

But once I brought mindset + strategy together, I:

  • Scaled my income consistently

  • Built financial systems I actually enjoy using

  • Felt safe raising my prices and resting without guilt

  • Stopped spiraling during “slow” months

This combo is what created real sustainability.

Want Support With Both?

Inside my Free Financial Starter Kit, I include tools for both mindset + strategy:

  • Journaling prompts to explore your money beliefs

  • A color-coded expense + income tracker

  • A monthly review worksheet

Use it as your foundation.

Mindset is the engine. Strategy is the vehicle.

One without the other might take you somewhere—but together? They take you exactly where you want to go.

And you deserve to feel powerful, peaceful, and profitable.

With vision and structure,
