Most people set goals. Very few people review them.

It’s one of the biggest mistakes we make when trying to grow, stay consistent, or build momentum.

Without reflection, goals become guesses.
And progress becomes accidental.

But when you review your time, your habits, and your energy with intention—even just once a month—everything changes.

You gain clarity. You start seeing patterns. You make better decisions.

And that’s where these 3 questions come in.

I started using them every month at the end of last year, and the shift was immediate: I wasn’t just doing more—I was doing more of the right things.

💡 Why Monthly Reviews Matter (Even More Than Goal Setting)

Let’s be honest: setting goals feels exciting. Dreaming about what you’ll do next month? Motivating.

But the real growth happens in the review.

Because when you take time to look at what’s working and what’s not, you stop operating on autopilot. You start making conscious, aligned choices.

Monthly reviews:

✅ Help you adjust before it’s too late
✅ Keep you connected to your bigger vision
✅ Create space for celebration—not just correction
✅ Reduce guilt and increase awareness
✅ Make your weekly planning 10x easier

The best part? You don’t need a journal full of prompts. Just 3 simple, powerful questions.

🔁 The 3 Review Questions That Changed Everything

1. What energized me this month?

This question helps you uncover what’s working—not just in your schedule, but in your soul.

Was it writing? Walking in silence? Working with a certain client? Designing content? Taking evenings off?

Make a list. These are your fuel sources. You’ll want to intentionally schedule more of these in Q2.

2. What drained me this month?

This one stings a little—but it’s where the magic happens.

Look at your calendar, your habits, your tasks. What made you feel overwhelmed, resentful, or disconnected?

Don’t judge—just observe. Once you’re aware, you can shift.

Maybe you said yes too much. Maybe you didn’t block creative time. Maybe your to-do list is too long or unrealistic.

Write it down. These are red flags to watch for next month.

3. What do I want more (and less) of next month?

This is where you turn reflection into action.

Use the insights from Questions 1 and 2 to craft a vision for next month.

“I want more calm mornings and less last-minute scrambling.”
“I want more deep work time, less reactive emailing.”
“I want more clarity, less clutter.”

Once you name it, you can plan for it.

✍️ From Insight to Implementation

Reflection without action is just nostalgia.

So after answering those questions, here’s how I turn them into a plan:

  1. I grab my printable weekly planner

  2. I plug in what I want more of (example: morning focus block)

  3. I remove or reduce what I want less of (example: evening phone scroll)

  4. I set 1–2 micro goals for the next week

  5. I repeat the review every month

Simple. Flexible. Grounded.

Q2 isn’t about working harder. It’s about working smarter.

You start designing.

You’re ready.
